Causality: An Introduction

This is the first post in a series on causality. The series is based on the work of Judea Pearl and other researchers working in this space. In this post, I will introduce what Pearl calls “the new science of cause and effect” [1] by connecting causality to how we think, highlighting issues with traditional statistics, and showing how to represent causality mathematically. In future posts, we will look more closely at two fields of causality: causal inference and causal discovery.
